During
our recent camping trip at San Onofre State Beach I also visited San Clemente State Beach. Nice bluffside day use area perfect for picnics, a visitor center, tent and
RV campsites and a paved pathway down to the beach.
For more information on this beach, fees, camping reservations,

At the end of the paved path
down to San Clemente Beach shown in the picture above you can turn to the right (North) walk the beach to San
Clemente Pier (shown in picture on the right), it's probably about 1 mile away. Restaurants and many shops to
see here along the main street.
You can also take the trail to the left heading South down the coast and visit nearby
Trestles Beach, one mile or less away. This trail also connects with the path through San Mateo Creek Natural Preserve, also a paved path. Take a left on that path (heading inland) connects with old abandoned Highway 101
through San Onofre State Beach (paved, flat, easy walk or bike ride) and the trail through San Mateo Creek ending at the San Mateo Campground near the ampitheater (a true hike through natural terrain dirt paths, some uphills).
